This site exists to answer one question honestly: who actually takes TRICARE, and where do you go to find them? It's built for the family three weeks into a new duty station trying to book a dentist, and for the spouse who has just discovered that dental isn't part of the medical plan.

Who's behind it

AcceptsTricare.com is written and maintained by someone who spent years as an administrator at a base clinic, helping military families use this benefit — untangling referrals, explaining why the Prime rules and the Select rules give opposite answers, and watching the same handful of misunderstandings cost people money over and over. The site is the answer to those questions, written down once, properly sourced.

We are not a government agency, a contractor, or a broker, and we don't sell insurance. We are an independent publisher.

What we publish, and how it's sourced

Everything here falls into one of two buckets, and we're explicit about which is which on every page, because they carry very different reliability.

Facility data. All 356 military treatment facilities — 303 in the United States and the rest overseas — come directly from TRICARE's own military hospital and clinic locator, retrieved August 1, 2026. Addresses, phone numbers, hours and websites are reproduced as TRICARE publishes them. We add nothing to these records except grouping them by state and city so you can browse them, and coordinates for facilities TRICARE didn't publish any for, derived from the official address so the "near me" tool can rank them.
Benefit facts. Costs, referral rules, region assignments, pharmacy network status, dental and vision rules — each traced to a specific page on tricare.mil or a named contractor, quoted where the wording matters, and stamped with the date we checked it.

Nothing on this site is hand-typed from memory. Counts come from the data; claims come from the ledger. If you find something that doesn't match your regional contractor, they are right and we want to hear about it.

What we refuse to do

There is no public, complete list of civilian doctors and dentists who accept TRICARE, because network participation is a private contract between each provider and a regional contractor, and it changes without announcement. Sites that publish such lists have scraped them from somewhere and don't know whether they're still true.

We won't do that. Instead, every page that could tempt us into a fake list does three things instead: answers the underlying question honestly, names the company that runs your region, and links their live directory. It's a less satisfying page and a more useful one.

The same discipline applies to gaps. TRICARE publishes no network answer for several large pharmacy chains; we say so on those pages rather than guessing. TRICARE hasn't published 2027 enrollment fees; we don't print the proposal that's circulating as though it were policy. OPM hasn't set the next open season dates; we won't invent a range you might plan around.

How current this is

Benefit facts were last verified against tricare.mil on August 1, 2026, and facility data was retrieved the same day. TRICARE rules change on contract cycles and at the turn of each calendar year — copays rose on January 1, 2026, and six states changed region on January 1, 2025 — so we re-verify rather than let pages sit. Every page carries the date it was checked so you can judge for yourself.

46 states have at least one military facility; five have none at all. Those numbers come from the data, not from us.

This site is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Department of Defense, the Defense Health Agency, TRICARE, Humana Military, TriWest Healthcare Alliance, Express Scripts, United Concordia or any other contractor. TRICARE is a registered trademark of the Department of Defense.

We intend to carry advertising to cover hosting and the time it takes to keep the facts current. Advertising will never determine what we say about a company — the pharmacy pages tell you plainly that Walmart is out of network, and that won't change for any advertiser.

Tell us when we're wrong

Every page has a feedback form at the bottom, and reports of broken or outdated information go to the top of the queue. If a clinic's phone number has changed, a rule has moved, or a page reads as confidently wrong, that's exactly what we want to hear. See contact and our editorial policy.
